Erivara is a green rider at Isla Weyr. Her dragon is green Nasrinth who hatched in the founding days of Aerion Weyr. She is currently a Wingrider.
History
Erivara was born to two traders of a Southern Caravan. At ten, she was separated from the caravan during a storm. Found by a small family of winged wolves, who at the time were hiding from humans as winged wolves were not known to exist yet. The wolves, while starving, decided to keep the girl overnight to see if she lived. When Erivara woke up, she found a puppy trying to gnaw off her leg and screamed, altering the parents who punished the pup. They introduced themselves as Kytan and Tysala. Tysala thought of a plan to get Erivara back to humans, and get her hungry puppies a meal. The two left her near a small holding and stole a calf from the herd which alerted the holders and allowed Erivara to be found.
Erivara was given to a holder and his wife; Falran and Itelle. They had a son named Itellan who was close to Erivara's age. After she had recovered enough, Erivara borrowed a runner and went out to find the den. She promised Kytan and Tysala that she would help them get food since the wolves helped her. Erivara kept to her promise, bringing scraps of food as often as she could from the kitchens and developing a bond with the two and their pups; Ketan, Kyla, and Kestal. While she never fully got along with Ketan, she formed a strong bond with Kestal and Kyla.
With Erivara's help, the pups grow and soon begin to join their parents on outings, learning to hunt and take care of themselves. As such, Erivara grows lonely as she rarely sees any of them. She later learns that her parents are dead, having died in the storm that nearly killed her. Falran and Itelle take her in as a foster child.
Almost eight months after being rescued, Erivara feels an emotional loss that drops her to her knees. As Itellan tries to help her up, Kestal and Kyla crash land in front of her - Kyla is already dead, her body a bloody mess. Kestal is injured but when he tells them that the Silver Rain (or Thread), has come the three of them race for the Hold. Erivara remembers her firelizard's name and calls Taji to try to warn Itellan's parents. Unable to reach the hold in time, Itellan and Erivara take refuge from Fall in Kestal's old den.
After Fall, Itellan tries to patch up Kestal as best he can but tells Erivara that his parents are both dead as his father didn't believe Taji's warning and his mother had been caught in Fall while trying to warn her husband. The two eventually move to Paradise River Hold and find work. Itellan is taken to Landing to study animal healing and Erivara is left at the Hold with a foster family. Unable to accept her role in society, Erivara would escape her duties often to run through the wilderness with Kestal who, while he never learned to fly, was a very good protector of things on the ground. He also developed a sense to warn her of Thread long before the Hold knew after his entire family was killed by it.
When Itellan returned to Paradise River, he started to take interest in Erivara in a way that she did not like and soon escaped on a caravan, using her real parent's names to get a ride. Kestal followed and the two ended up at the newly established Aerion Weyr. Here she met an eight Turn old Aein who showed her around the Weyr and the hatching sands, telling Erivara that someday she was going to be a dragonrider, too. Kestal, who remained hidden outside the Weyr, dared Erivara to touch one of the eggs and she did (briefly), before darting back to the Lower Caverns where the Caravan was enjoying a meal provided by the Weyr. She spent most of the time with Aein before retiring for the evening.
That night, she was woken by Kestal who said the 'eggs were breaking'. Realizing that the clutch was hatching, Erivara ran to the sands and was trying to get past the crowd when another mind reached for hers and Erivara unknowingly answered. Nasrinth soon found her amid the chaos and Erivara sat down at the edge of the hot sands, shocked that she had Impressed without intending to.
Throughout Weyrling Training, Kestal remained hidden. When Nasrinth was able to fly, she would meet him in the mountains outside Aerion. While Erivara enjoyed life at the Weyr and as a dragonrider, she was fearful of fighting Thread. Her first Fall did not go well as both she and Nasrinth were scored. As she recovered, she began to grow more fearful of what life as a dragonrider would be.
During one of their outings, the pair encountered, though did not meet, two men and another winged wolf. The two men would later arrive at the Weyr - dragonriders - and after saving her from a drunk brown rider, they pulled her to the side and told her where they were from - the future. The winged wolf was also from the future and the more they talked the more she wanted to go with. However, when she brought up wanting to bring her friend, Aein, the two looked at each other and winced. Apparently, Aein could not go with them and they would explain why only if Erivara went with them. After talking to Nasrinth and Kestal, Erivara decided that being a dragonrider at Isla Weyr sounded a bit less dangerous than a full-time Weyr like Aerion.
Erivara said goodbye to Aein and went with the two riders to the future and Isla Weyr. After they landed, Philippe and M'len explained that Aein would later Impress gold Zyranth - who was the dam of many of Isla's dragons. While Erivara never would see Aein again, she was happy to know that her friend had lived out her life well and left her mark by starting her own Weyr - eventually.
Isla Weyr is more relaxed than Aerion, which is active in this time and at full capacity now. As Nasrinth nears her first mating flight, Erivara has set her sights at convincing the only young man to catch her eye since arriving that his night brown is the only dragon for her Nasrinth. If only Kieren would just notice her...
