Farroth is a Pernese dragon who is blue and faded to black to his tail.
Defensive of his rider, Farroth is willing to do anything to protect those he or his rider cares about. He is quite mellow and typically does not do anything bold or rash - unlike his rider who definitely will make his mind known.
As is said, looks can be deceiving and this is very true for Flynnth, who's personality makes up for whatever her size may not. She's feisty, bold, stubborn, and very confident. She is also quite brave which is usually overlooked because the other four traits are usually remembered before anyone recalls that she's one of the two queens at Isla that actually fly Thread in the fighting wings.
Since returning to life (after he and Philippe died to stop Krelnar once and for all), Farroth has managed to learn to use the spells on his harness on his own rather than needing Philippe to activate it. This has allowed him to shift size at will - which he has fun doing when in combat to confuse his opponents. Farroth learning to cast spells has also caused a few other dragons to try it, namely Flynnth who used a scroll custom created so she could induce a frenzy flight of all sport dragons. A similar scroll was used later to start the flight for the Memorial Clutch.
Farroth's harness is spellscribed by his rider, which allows him to cast spells himself. The harness has ten charges, with one point being regained every 3 hours if the harness is not being used. The following spells are inscribed on the harness:
Farroth is often Philippe's grounding, and the elf has stated this plenty of times and relies on Farroth's 'dragon sense' (what many Islan riders call the logical, down-to-earth reasoning of most dragons), to keep him from doing something incredibly stupid. If Philippe doesn't listen to M'len or others, he will listen to Farroth.
Farroth adores Cynte as much as his rider and has no problem tattle-tailing on Philippe to his weyrmate if he feels that whatever the elf did warrants Cynte knowing.
In addition to doting on the children, Farroth is fiercely protective of his rider's children and always keeps one eye on them if he can so that his rider can relax, which is something that Philippe does far too little according to Farroth and his close friends.
While Phalinth enjoys picking on Farroth, Farroth enjoys being picked on by the tiny gold. He is protective but not as possessive as his rider is about Phalinth's. Not that he doesn't give Mixuith shit about catching Phalinth in Farroth's absence.
Cyrenth is, simply put, annoying and until she actually grows up, Farroth sees the young green as nothing but a nuisance that needs to find a different bed - because Farroth is not a bed!
Farroth hatched at a closed clutch at Isla Weyr, sired by bronze Jerith and lain by gold Rhiath. He chose Philippe who had recently arrived at Isla under circumstances that very few knew about. They completed their training and joined the fighting wings. After the death of P'mir and Sieyeth at the End-of-Pass Gather, Farroth and Philippe agreed to be Searchriders given P'mir had asked them (as well as M'len and Jesioth), hours before his death.
Farroth typically caught light green Ilverinth, who hatched from the same Hatching as he did but was from a different clutch. The pair did not produce a clutch until Isla fell and they were living at Dark Moon WeyrHold. After jumping forward in time to 3005 AL, Philippe and Farroth transferred from Fort Weyr to Monaco Bay after Farroth sensed a possible candidate for the egg they were waiting for. During this time, Philippe and Juniamaa (Ilverinth's rider) began to drift apart. By the time Isla Weyr returned, the two were barely speaking.
Farroth found many candidates offworld and on Pern since arriving at Isla Weyr and he enjoys the task (as much as he enjoys sleeping of course).
In 3011 AL, Philippe began to suffer from episodes where he would black out and not remember anything, during which Farroth was unable to see what was happening in his rider's head which frightened him. Philippe would not remember what he saw but Farroth knew it was something. When his rider was sent to Sentra to find someone who could help (hopefully), Farroth went with and spent most of the time firelizard-sized to try to stay hidden. After Philippe's memories returned, Farroth willingly took his rider to Astrael despite the threat of zombies. He tried to protect his rider when Krelnar attacked and allowed Philippe to (out of desperation) merge their souls into one body to destroy Krelnar instead of banishing him. As such, Farroth's soul was hidden in the Soulcatcher that Randaril would unknowingly succeed in using. Farroth was later resurrected and returned to his body by Philippe.
When Philippe was captured and sent to the Republic, Farroth was once again unable to hear his rider until Philippe realized that the 'juice' they were giving him was hindering his mental and magical abilities. Once Philippe was able to reach his dragon again, he and Farroth coordinated so that once Philippe released the zombie horde on the Complex, riders and elves were outside waiting to take care of the women who had been held there. Farroth helped M'len convince Philippe to bring Ash back to life, stating obvious facts that the elf could not ignore - not to mention the clever but obvious fact that only three people had to know the truth. Farroth would later be the one to bring Ash to Silverne to receive medical care.
